The year 2018 was a major milestone for the RMB Corvest business when the original founders of this well-established and successful private equity business retired. Mike took over the leadership role from 1 July 2018.

Mike studied at Rhodes University and completed his BCom and H Dip Acc in 1992. He thereafter joined Coopers & Lybrand in Cape Town to undertake his articles and qualified as a Chartered Accountant CA (SA).

Post articles Mike relocated to London with Coopers & Lybrand to begin his career in Corporate Finance. Having spent three years abroad, the call from Africa was too much and he returned to South Africa to join Investec Bank. Mike initially joined as a Corporate Finance transactor and a few years later moved into their Private Equity division.

Mike joined RMB Corvest in 2004 and has been involved in and led numerous notable private equity transactions during this time. Some of these included the Fidelity unbundling; Servest SA and UK; Autozone; Maragon; Autotrader; JoJo Tanks and Excellerate. Mike took over the CEO role in July 2018. He is currently a member of the RMB Investment Committee and serves on a number of other boards within the RMB Corvest portfolio.

He is married and has two boys.
