Matsebe holds a BCom in Finance and Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a BCom Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management from the University of Cape Town. He is also a CFA charter holder and a Fellow of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

In 2012, Matsebe began his career in investment banking as a transactor in the Infrastructure Finance team at RMB. He was involved in several landmark project finance transactions across sub-Saharan Africa. These include renewable energy projects in South Africa and a telecommunications infrastructure transaction in Nigeria.

Matsebe later set his sights on a career in private equity and joined Sphere Holdings in 2015. Over his 5-year tenure he worked on the origination, due diligence, execution, and monitoring of investments spanning the education, manufacturing, and software sectors. Matsebe joined RMB Corvest in 2021.

Outside of work, Matsebe is a keen road cyclist and volunteers as a mentor in the Student Sponsorship Programme.
